What it is

Cast aluminium sump with baffles and a magnetic drain plug.

What it does

Stores 6.5 litres of engine oil and feeds the oil-pump pickup under cornering loads.

How it fails

Aluminium threads strip if the drain plug is over-torqued; use a new crush washer each service.
