What it is

Composite cover over the camshafts with integrated oil separator.

What it does

Keeps oil in and dirt out of the valvetrain; the PCV separator returns oil mist to the sump.

How it fails

PCV diaphragm can tear, causing a whistle and rough idle; replace the cover as an assembly.
