Map-controlled electric thermostat in the coolant outlet.

What it does

Holds coolant at 90–105 °C for economy, drops to 80 °C under load for knock margin.

How it fails

Stuck-open thermostat shows as slow warm-up and a fault code for coolant temperature plausibility.
